The day started with Jacques Smit from Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy presenting a short introduction to Conservation at Work to set out the important role Conservation at Work plays in the conservation landscape. Attendees heard how Conservation at Work connects private conservation sites of various types in a network of relevant conservation stakeholders for knowledge sharing and technical support, and how the private sector, landowner, and community-driven conservation is an essential complement to state conservation efforts.
