Event Date: 9th November 2013 (All day)
EVENT BACKGROUND:
The Western Cape is an area of global conservation significance with exceptionally high species diversity. Most areas of high conservation value lie in the hands of private landowners. Many of these landowners join conservancies to collectively take on conservation projects and to help ensure preservation of our biodiversity for future generations. Conservation at Work is a non-profit association that represents all Conservancies in the Western Cape and provides assistance and representation to these conservation minded landowners. The Double Dirt Run series gives contestants the opportunity to experience the beauty of some of these conservation areas. These events aim to raise funds towards on-going conservation initiatives in these areas. The next Double Dirt Event will take place in the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy. This conservancy is very active in conserving their natural areas with initiatives like alien invasive plant eradication, leading to job creation and environmental education of children in the farm communities.
Please Note:
Simonsberg is a conservation area and we would like to ask runners to please stick to the paths and ensure that all trash is carried with you or thrown into the allocated bins.
